Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to leave the UK winter (which I don’t like), in February for a month, to travel around New Zealand. My mother is from NZ therefore we were visiting family a fair bit, but we got to see some nice scenery and I managed to go on a few bicycle trips. Taking photos and videos etc.
The first bicycle trip started from the town of Taupo. I hired the last bicycle at mid day. There is an off-road bicycle trail that goes up a very nice looking river to a waterfall called the Huka falls. However, the cycle route did not end there and traveled a few more miles up to an area called Aratiatia (where there is a power station). After I cycled back the same way and returned my bicycle to the hire shop later that evening.
The other bicycle journey was a two day trip. First day started in a town called Waihi, in the Coromandel area of NZ. Second day returning to Waihi. The journey went up North to a holiday park north of Thames (that had cabins). It was all off-road, to the town of Thames – travelling along a Rail-trail (converted railway line to cycle path). Via the towns: Waikino, Karangahake, Paeroa,Hikutaia, Thames & Tararu. This return journey was around 100 miles.
I have lots of footage to review, and will hopefully get started on editing a video for this holiday soon.
